Nike Football Training Camp - Oregon

Very athletic group and in surprisingly good condition for being “rained in” the majority of the spring in this part of the country. Extremely coachable with really no exceptions – all these guys love playing and are doing everything in their power to take their game to the next level. This camp has slowly evolved and becoming a showcase of better talent every year.

  1. Dawson Housely (Sheldon HS, OR) – Has it all together… quick feet, plenty of speed, aggressive hands, competitive spirit, sturdy frame with potential to expand. Responds extremely well to coaching… especially on the fly. Was impressed that he learned from a mistake in 1on1s, corrected it and made a play when in a similar situation. I see him with potential to be a very athletic Mike, but he can also excel in and out of the tackle-box too. This is a guy you want running your huddle and motivating his teammates.
  2. Zach Walen (Lake Oswego HS, OR) – Lean and long frame that can easily pack on 30+lbs. of muscle in college (maybe more?!). I think he is still acclimating to his body, but he sure does a great job already because he flys to the football and makes plays. Awesome attitude, football is important to this guy!
  3. Sawyer Powell (Richland HS, WA) – The leading SPARQ performer at the Tigard HS Nike Combine showed that he can transfer from the track to the field today. Mighty fine performance in ½ skelly and 1on1s – superb closing speed! Watching him run, it appears that he can continue to accelerate past 20, even 30 yards. For an LB and one of his size, this is truly remarkable. Plenty of room to grow and put on quality mass without being too bulky. Great attitude guy. When he accepts his abilities and allows 100% confidence to permeate his game… unreal potential.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Anthony Davis (North Salem HS, OR) – Great frame and runs pretty well. Very raw, but shows glimmers of exceptional playmaking ability.
  • Evan Colorito (Tigard HS, OR) – Lean and really long frame – he will put on some serious mass since he’s only a sophomore. Good angles and swift in pursuit.
  • Sam Shober (Archbishop Murphy HS, OR) – With more reps, he can take his speed and strength and body and be a heck-of-a LB.
  • Brandon Heim (Union Camas HS, WA) – Total hard worker, hustling with all he’s got! Would also like to see what he could do as a fullback, maybe even a running back. Guy’s got plenty of speed and athleticism!
  • Finau Toki (Inglemoor HS, OR) – Great burst and impressive speed on lean and muscular frame.
  • Deion Johns (Oak Grove HS, OR) – Straightup baller! This kid just finds a way to get himself around the ball.
