Duke Nike Football Training Camp

Fantastic tempo, effort and intensity from pillar to post with this camp! It was truly an elite event as every player seemed capable of holding his own and making plays against exceptional competition. These guys had fun playing football and they were relentless in their pursuit to polish al skills relative to the linebacker position.

  1. Nick Dawson (Berry HS, NC) – In his second camp this season, this LB continually proved why he is in the elite class of ’12 recruits. Speed, agility, competitiveness, versatility, technical proficiency, and coachability were displayed on the highest level. As exceptional as his performance has been this camp season, he still screams of potential and ability to grow and improve. He is very capable of putting on more quality muscle. The same is true of his football knowledge and playmaking ability.
  2. Kwontie Moore (Norfolk Christian HS, VA) – Freakishly proportioned with a startlingly explosive ability to accelerate to the ball. Many times it looks like he is in slow motion – but, it is only because his top end is so violent and that he is such a patient player. His frame shows potential as does his thirst and drive to gain knowledge to make himself a better player. He is a 100% “yessir”-“can do” guy!
  3. TJ Burrell (Goose Creek HS, SC) – Tremendous twitch and excellent top end speed. Our best 1on1 cover guy for this camp. Fantastic hips when reacting off ball carriers and would be receivers in space – in other words, his agility transcends the drills in a most exceptional way. Really saw a lot of improvement in him as the camp went on – high effort and competitive fervor combined with his athleticism puts him in a great spot to excel at the next level.
  4. Rhakeem Stallings (Oscar Smith HS, VA) – Awesome closing speed and athleticism. Great to see that kind of burst on such a well-muscled and hard working player – he’ll make plays in many aspects of the modern game. Really like him as a Will who isn’t afraid to stick his nose into things.
  5. Tashion Singleton (West Mechlenburg HS, NC) – Fantastic in ½ skelly: takes up so much space and is so active with his eyes that he is just sniffing out everything the offense is doing. He’s got the prototype frame and running ability that can find him a lot of work on nearly every defense. Can put on size and even create a threat from the edge.
  6. Deon Clarke (Lloyd C. Bird HS, VA) – Extremely smooth athlete with assertive speed when chasing the football. Impressive frame and muscular constitution – he’ll put on plenty of quality weight when he moves up to the next level. This guy has all the tangible tools to be a big time player.
  7. Peter Kalambayi (Butler HS, NC) – Completely dominant in pass rush, he is so fluid and so explosive – he could be recruited entirely for this skill alone. Impressive size and speed and only a sophomore. As he plays more football, he will continue to improve in space – if he does this he will be an absolute nightmare for offensive coordinators.
  8. Holland Fisher (Clover Hill HS, VA) – Did an excellent job in coverage for both ½ skelly and 1on1 coverage. Is an excellent Will LB, as his game knowledge expands, he will make more plays and exhibit his natural and practiced skills. Very coachable and quick to learn.
  9. Preston Durham (Chapman HS, SC) – Noteworthy improvement in his agility, especially in space when comparing this camp with the Georgia camp over a month ago. Hard working, non-stop hustle gets this guy around the ball nearly every play. Extremely well put together and and elite drive to play at the highest level.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Avery Thompson (Grassfield HS, VA) – Really long and lean – great potential to get a lot bigger. Fine football player, especially in ½ skelly.
  • Blake Hickman (Page HS, Greensboro, NC) – Does all those little things that people who know “’ball” can appreciate. He is football savvy, has a nice burst and is hungry to run with the big dawgs!
  • DaQuavius Reid (Berry HS, NC) – Big bodied and does a lot of good things when he spots the ball. Hard worker and competitive LB.
  • Andrew Motu’apuaka (Salem HS, VA) – Has many of the tangible skills that you love to see in a Will backer – explosive, agile and speed to burn. He just needs more reps, especially in space, to be ready for that next level.
