Nike Football Training Camp - Rutgers

Hard group of ‘ballers, would have loved to see this group with pads on. They all got a ton of reps and it’s always a pleasure to see improvement throughout a 4hr period. Technically sound group with a lot of hustle and passion to play.
  1. Steve Longa (Saddle Brook, NJ) – Extremely athletic, fine build with the frame and constitution to get even more muscled and sturdy. Surprisingly stout at the point of attack, impressive extension from the elbow (long limbed) when engaging blockers and jamming receivers. Once he got his swagger, this kid started to excel in all match-ups and 1on1s.
  2. Evan Harvey (Dwyer HS, Palm Beach Gardens, FL) – Tough, feisty and quick as a cat. He consistently improves in now his third NFTC of the year – this kid wants it bad! He was intuitively doing things that are far advanced for senior and developing collegiate – and this guy’s only a sophomore. He is going to grow physically which is good – because this guy’s game is pretty big right now.
  3. Quanzell Lambert (Timber Creek HS, Sicklerville, NJ) – If we were in pads, this beast might have killed someone. He showed a lot of maturity holding up from laying folks out, but still showed his dominance in all phases of the game. His freakish reach let him make some extraordinary plays in 1on1s – he batted down a lot of balls. He was the most definite D-I prospect at this camp – truly solid and well coached in all areas.
  4. DeVaughn Chollette (West Scranton HS, Scranton, PA) – Looked like Tarzan… and played like him too. Very aggressive and assertive in all match-ups, a true competitor. Fine knee bend to make him a very agile muscled backer. Very inquisitive, wants to perform his best.
  5. Jermaine Carter (Archbishop Carroll, Washington, DC) – Smooth in space and really started making waves when we started competing with the backs. Pretty good explosion that can be harnessed with weight training in the future. Always around the ball, great breaks to converge and finish plays.
  6. AJ Garcia (Randolph, NJ) – High energy and output LB; loved his attitude and hard-nosed style of play. No excuses and just found a way to get it done, every team needs a guy like this. Showed a lot of efficiency when changing directions; also a pleasure to coach.

Honorable Mentions:
  •  Selton Hodge (Archbishop Carroll, Washington, DC) – Really good snap and ability to accelerate to finish plays – wired really well with potential to put on more size in the right strength and conditioning program.
  • Kevin Butler (Piscataway, NJ) – Sharp pop to this guy’s movements, accelerate to the ball really well to finish.
  • Rashon Pleasants (Williamstown, NJ) – Great hands to catch the ball and paralleled athleticism. Tempos his energy really well.
