Really coachable group that gave top shelf effort all day. As a result, you could see most of the kids improve throughout the four hours.
1.Cameron McCurry (Fleming Island, FL) – Smart, exceptional raw and football agility, and he plays with great pad level. This allowed him to excel in all match-up and 1on1 drills – he locked down their best players at times. Extremely coachable, total hustle all the time. Keeps his pads square to the line of scrimmage and has a pretty good burst; it’s because he consistently puts himself in a position to be successful. Awesome day for him, he earned the MVP!
2.Dallas Griffins (North Florida Christian, FL) – Physically imposing and down right nasty – he has the right mindset to play at the next level. As yoked as he is, it is a mazing to watch him run – excellent speed and agility. When his feet get him to the point of attack he is nearly unbeatable. He’ll be a fine inside or outside linebacker in any scheme, great versatility.
3.Jakarri Thomas (Godby, FL)– Exceptional closing speed to aid his playmaking ability. Really athletic and smooth, but still physical and very assertive during the tackling drills. Nice frame and plenty of room to pack on some lean muscle. Great showing for him today and large upside too. Made a fantastic INT after recovering from a near fall during his last man coverage drill against the RB Elite.
4.Jalen Butler (Plant City, FL) – Very explosive and twitchy, showed up and was effective in all drills. Looks like he has room to grow and get bigger.
5.Kadeem Thomas (Godby, FL) – Big bodied Mike LB-type that is surprisingly swift. I really like seeing big guys like this hold their own in man coverage – he’ll be a great addition in the interior of any defense.
Honorable Mentions:
·William Golden (Ware County, GA) – Awesome change of direction which comes from his great knee bend and sense of balance
·Phillip Amone (Dr. Phillips, FL) – Improved from last year, nice ability to swivel his hips and cover ground. He gets to the ball nearly every play.
·Ryan Bishop (Olympia, FL) – Fantastic in pass rush, not much experience on air – but worked his butt off throughout camp and probably got the most reps out of anyone that day… the kid was out of breath for 4 hours straight!
·Maurice Russell (Fort Meade, FL) – Really came alive during the match-up and skelly segments of camp; awesome in the open field tackle drills.
·T.P. Peterson (Godby, FL) – Solid in all aspects, made plays all over the field.
·Marcus Gordon (Hawthorne, FL) – Big potential, very impressive frame and room to grow.
